Can we embrace cows in a low-carbon future?

Finding viable on-farm solutions for dairy farms in NZ.

Dairy farming in New Zealand contributes to 25% of New Zealand’s total greenhouse gas emissions. On-farm practices and methods farmers are using, release a large amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions which are potent carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e). These emissions need to be lowered significantly to meet the obligations of the Paris Agreement for New Zealand to have net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
