New Zealand Land Types
The NZ Coastal Policy Statement 2010 recently adopted by government recognises that an understanding of underlying land types, and the natural processes that influence them, is a very useful basis for resource planning. Land typing is recommended as a basis for addressing coastal management.
Using land types, or land systems, that address the underlying geomorphological character is a useful method for all scales of landscape planning, management and design, for the coast and for inland.
